PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

DocumentExtractor processes documents locally on your Windows PC. Your PDFs are not uploaded as part of extraction.

Effective date: October 11, 2026 · Applies to PlainBytes DocumentExtractor and this product site

How the app treats your files

The same commitments described in the in-app Help Center—stated here for the product site and Store listing.

Local processing

DocumentExtractor processes PDF files locally on your Windows device. Your PDFs are not uploaded to a server as part of extraction.

Selected files only

The app only processes PDF files that you explicitly add to the current task. It does not scan your disk for documents on its own.

Templates stay local

Templates (field and table rules) are saved on your device. Exporting a template creates a .json file you control and can share or delete yourself.

Excel path you choose

Extraction results are written only to the Excel workbook path you select. Original PDFs are not modified by Extract.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how PlainBytes Studio (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with PlainBytes DocumentExtractor, a Windows desktop utility available from the Microsoft Store, and this product marketing website.

DocumentExtractor helps you select fields and tables on similar-layout, text-based PDFs, run the same setup across a batch, and export results to Excel—entirely on your PC.

2. What the app handles

While you use the app, it processes the following content locally:

  • PDF files you add — opened and read locally to preview pages and extract the fields and tables you configured.
  • Extraction rules — anchors, named fields, and table definitions you create in Custom mode or load from a template.
  • Excel output — extracted data written to an Excel workbook (.xlsx) at the path you choose (Summary sheet, plus optional detail sheets).
  • Templates — reusable rule sets stored locally, with optional import/export as .json.

Recommendation

For important documents, we recommend keeping your original PDFs. Extraction does not modify them, but reviewing exported data before downstream use is still recommended—especially when layouts or table headers may vary between files.

3. What we do not collect

For DocumentExtractor’s extraction workflow:

  • We do not upload your PDF documents to PlainBytes servers.
  • Extraction and export require no internet connection.
  • The app does not send your PDF contents or extraction results to PlainBytes Studio.
  • The app is designed for offline extraction; it does not send document content to us for cloud OCR or remote analysis.

If you contact us by email, we receive the message content and attachments you choose to provide. We use that information only to understand and reply to inquiries, provide support, or discuss related custom-development needs.

4. Local storage on your device

Templates and extraction results created by the app are stored locally and managed by you:

  • Templates are stored in the local application data directory as individual .json files.
  • Exported templates are written only when you choose Export, to a path you select.
  • Excel workbooks are written only to the output path you select for a run.
  • Original PDFs stay where you left them; Extract does not alter or replace them.

You can delete templates in the app, remove exported files yourself, or uninstall the app using Windows. When you uninstall, templates and other data in the local application data directory may be removed with the package; template files you exported to a path you chose, and Excel files created by extraction, are not deleted by uninstalling.

5. This website

This product site is static marketing content. It describes the app and links to the Microsoft Store. It does not provide a login, document upload, or cloud extraction service.

Pages may load the Hanken Grotesk web font from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When fonts load, your browser sends a request to Google’s servers and is subject to Google’s own terms and privacy policy. The DocumentExtractor desktop app does not depend on those font requests to process your PDFs.

This site may use Google Analytics (Google) and Microsoft Bing analytics services (such as Bing UET / Bing Webmaster Tools) to understand how the site is visited. These services may collect device, browser, and visit information (for example page views, approximate region, and traffic source) via cookies or similar technologies, under each provider’s own privacy policy. The DocumentExtractor desktop app’s document extraction does not depend on these analytics services.

We do not use the product site to collect account credentials or document uploads.

6. Microsoft Store and Windows

If you install DocumentExtractor from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft may process information related to purchase, download, updates, and Store diagnostics under Microsoft’s policies. Windows itself may also process crash or diagnostic data according to your system settings. Those services are operated by Microsoft, not by PlainBytes Studio.

7. Children’s privacy

DocumentExtractor is a general productivity utility. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app’s extraction features.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the product or this site changes. If we do, we will publish the latest version on this page and update the Effective date.
